5 Things to Do in December

December is now here and with a new month comes a new trending topic on Twitter – "Hello December." We'd like to offer some suggestions on what to do in the final month of the year.

1. – Make sure to check out the Art and Craft Holiday Boutique at the Deepwells Mansion on Dec. 3 and 4. The event will feature original artwork from numerous artists, handmade jewelry, Christmas ornaments, gifts and more.

2. St. James Christmas Tree Lighting – Check out the lighting of the Christmas tree at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Railroad Avenue in St. James on Dec. 3 at 4 p.m.

3. 32nd Annual Smithtown Fire Department Christmas Parade – Santa on a fire truck, candy canes for all the kids – one of the more fun moments of the holiday season. The parade is set for Dec. 10 and begins at 5 p.m.

4. Drive Around and Look at Holiday Decorations – Lights, wreaths and more adorn homes and businesses around town, and a good way to bring in the holidays is to take a drive around the community at night and see the creativity and holiday spirit of your neighbors and business owners.

5. Host a Holiday Party – Is there anything better than celebrating the holiday season with friends and family over some good food, music, stories and more? Numerous local restaurants are available to hold parties, and if that's not the route for you, there's always catering.
