"Now is the perfect time to visit all the sweet little kittens at the Smithtown Animal Shelter," the shelter wrote. "It is nearly impossible not to instantly fall in love with these furry bundles of joy. While they are all adorable, their personalities and dispositions are different. Some are incredibly outgoing and social, while others are a bit shy and need a gentle touch of patience and understanding. All of them are innocent and deserve to grow up in a home of their very own. Prepare yourself for purring, lap naps, and snuggles while in the company of these fabulous little fur babies. Please help spread the word, if you or anyone you know has room in their heart and home for an unlimited amount of companionship, laughter, and amusement, please share that the pick of the litter is ready to make their acquaintance."

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.
The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time.
