Cannabis, Vape Products Seized At Smithtown Shop: Police

Police say a Fourth Precinct investigation found the employee selling cannabis without a dispensary license.

SMITHTOWN, NY — An employee at a Smithtown smoke shop was arrested Tuesday evening after officers said he was found selling cannabis products without the proper license, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers, responding to numerous community complaints, conducted an investigation with the Town of Smithtown Fire Marshal into unlicensed cannabis sales at local businesses. During the investigation at Convenience and Smoke Shop, located at 540 Smithtown Bypass, officers said employee Mirza Imtiaz Ahmed was found selling cannabis products without a dispensary license.

Police said assorted cannabis products, THC items, and flavored vape products were seized.

Ahmed, 43, of Selden, was charged with unlicensed cannabis sale and false personation, police said. The Town of Smithtown Fire Marshal also issued several code violations to the business.

Ahmed was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, police said.
