  1. Suffolk Police announced the discovery of a horrifying scene nearby the Smithtown LIRR station. A child was found dead inside a parked vehicle in the neighborhood. Reposts say the body was discovered on Monday at 4:15 p.m. This is a developing story, and details will follow as authorities release information to the public. (News 12 Long Island)
  2. The Smithtown School District highlights the excellent skills and performance of student-athletes from the district's high schools. The Smithtown High School East was recognized as a "School of Distinction," and Smithtown High School East a "School of Excellence."   4. The Smithtown Historical Society is set to host its annual Garden Party Brunch. The event is scheduled for Aug. 19 to support the animals living there.
