1. Smithtown HS East gets a new principal. Robert Rose has devoted more than two decades to Smithtown Central School District. Rose has spent the past 16 years as an assistant principal at High School East. (smithtownmatters.com)
2. Lawsuit: Nesconset family says Smithtown group home neglected and abused their son with autism. Ralph and Donna Milano filed a lawsuit against Developmental Disabilities Institute alleging their son suffered a broken arm, leg and other injuries while at the home. (News 12 Bronx)

4. Two injured in LIE crash involving drunk driver in Suffolk, police say. James Todarello, age 72, of Coram, was driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz, and Nolan Grant, age 57, of Medford, was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the westbound Long Island Expressway near Exit 57 when the vehicles crashed.
