The 33rd Hamptons International Film Festival launched in glamorous fashion on Friday, October 3, with Elizabeth Olsen attending the U.S. premiere of Eternity. The actress, who also serves as an executive producer on the film, was the undeniable centerpiece of the evening as fans, press, and industry guests gathered in East Hampton to celebrate the start of the festival. Olsen will remain in the spotlight throughout the weekend, returning on Saturday for the festival’s marquee event, A Conversation With Elizabeth Olsen, an intimate, hour-long discussion of her career and upcoming projects.

Directed by David Freyne, Eternity is a whimsical and poignant romantic comedy set in the afterlife. Olsen stars as Joan, a woman navigating love, loss, and difficult choices in a heaven filled with endless possibilities. With Miles Teller and Callum Turner playing her two would-be eternal partners—and Da’Vine Joy Randolph and John Early delivering memorable supporting turns—the film blends classic movie magic with fresh modern sensibilities.

Olsen’s presence at HIFF is especially significant given her status as one of today’s most versatile and celebrated performers. From her breakout in Martha Marcy May Marlene to her acclaimed work in WandaVision and her wide-ranging filmography that includes Ingrid Goes West, Kodachrome, and the Avengers franchise, she has built a career balancing indie grit with blockbuster success. Her latest slate of projects, including Panic Carefully opposite Julia Roberts and Flesh of the Gods with Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac, further cements her as a powerhouse talent.

The festival continues with screenings, panels, and conversations throughout the weekend, with Olsen’s onstage discussion sure to be a highlight.

Ongoing coverage of the Hamptons International Film Festival is being provided by The Sounds of Film, the nation’s longest-running film and music broadcast. Listeners can tune in on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
