  1. An off-duty police officer died in a vehicle crash near exit 46 of the Northern State Parkway in Smithtown. According to official reports, the incident happened on Friday at 2:15 a.m. The car left the roadway and hit a tree. An investigation is undergoing to find out what caused it.
