LAKE GROVE, NY — A fire caused Macy's in Smith Haven Mall to close on Friday, Suffolk police said. Arson Squad detectives were called to the department store around 7 a.m.

The fire started at a loading dock, and there was "enormous smoke" throughout the shop, Rick Torre, public information officer for the Smithtown Fire Department, told Patch.

The cause of the fire is being investigated but appears non-criminal, police said.
