- Volunteers for the Smithtown Senior Center assisted senior citizens with 1,067 minor home repairs in 2022. The program has been excellent for the community and is financed by the town and the Suffolk County Offices For The Aging. For more information or to request help, please contact the Smithtown Senior Center at 631-360-7616. (Newsday/subscription required)
- Smithtown is considering changing the town's code to prevent the construction of assisted living buildings in residential areas. Residents voiced their concerns in Tuesday's public hearing held at the Town Hall. Supervisor Ed Wehrheim stated that changes require the board's vote. The proposal comes after a developer applied to build a facility on the Bull Run Farm. This is a developing story and updates will follow. (News 12 Long Island)
- Help Suffolk Crime Stoppers to locate shoplifters in the neighborhood. Police are searching for a male who stole merchandise from Target on Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack and also for two suspects who were shoplifting at the Macy's store located inside the Smith Haven Mall.
