  1. A man was arrested charged with second-degree with assault during a wedding on Mills Pond Road in St. James. Police arrived at the scene after a 911 call reporting a fight during a wedding party. Officers tried to break the altercation among over 100 guests. However, one of the attendees bit one of the first responders in the arm. Read the whole story here. (Smithtown Patch)
  2. A tree lighting ceremony at the Smithtown Hall on Thursday, Sept. 7, will support the 'Go Gold With Us' cause. The event brings awareness of childhood cancer with respect for patients and their families undergoing treatment. The ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m. (Smithtown Gov. Via Facebook)
  3. A unique event is back in the Smithtown township! Happy Harbor Day is set for Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at Long Beach Road, featuring food trucks, face painting, touch tanks, and much more! Attendance is free and open for all ages. (Patch Calendar)
  4. It's time to rank Long Island MacArthur Airport as one of the Top Small Airports! Travelers can now vote in the USA Today’s Magazine competition to keep MacArthur in the top 10. It's not the first time our local airport has made it to the list, conquering sixth place in 2020 and fifth in 2021. (Patch)
