- The Lanieri Park Dedication was held on Labor Day weekend in memory of Kings Park student "John John," fatally struck by a drunk driver in 1980. Smithtown officials gathered with the community to honor the Lanieri family, whose generations have served the Smithtown area by working in public services such as hospitals and local government. - The Town of Smithtown Horizons Counseling and Education Center will host its family fun wellness event on Friday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. The gathering features live music, food, face painting, games, and more in honor of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services. The staff will also provide free Narcan training and kits at the Branch Plaza Parking Lot (LA Fitness Shopping Center) on Main Street in Smithtown. (TBR News Media)
- The Smithtown Library invites cardholders to participate in the Historic Crimes of Long Island Lecture Series on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. For those who enjoy local history, various infamous crimes will be discussed by author Kerriann Flanagan Brosky, who will also present her book, "Historic Crimes of Long Island; Misdeeds from the 1600s to the 1950s." - Wayfair retailer is opening its first location on Long Island this fall! The web store is expanding its steps to Tanger Outlets in Deer Park.
