Man Drove Drunk With His Child, Grandchild In Car In Lake Grove: Police

The man's child and grandchild, ages 2 and 3, were in the vehicle, police say.

LAKE GROVE, NY — A man was arrested Thursday after Suffolk police said he drove while under the influence of alcohol with his child and grandchild in the vehicle in Lake Grove.

Fourth Precinct officers responded to a home on Crotty Avenue and determined the driver of a 2007
Honda CR-V, Michael Morris, 47, of Lake Grove, was under the influence of alcohol, police said. Morris was arrested shortly before 6 p.m., police said.

His child and grandchild, ages 2 and 3, were in the vehicle, police said. Child Protective Services was notified, police said.

Morris was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, one count of aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, one count of second-degree criminal contempt, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said. The Honda was impounded.

Morris was set to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
