Mother, Son Killed, 91-Year-Old Hurt In Smithtown House Fire: Police
Police say two people were found dead inside the home on Fifty Acre Road South, and a 91-year-old man was hospitalized.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Two people killed in a Smithtown house fire Sunday afternoon have been identified as Christine Lehmann, 52, and her son, Nicholas Lehmann, 25, Suffolk County police said.
Officers responded to 178 Fifty Acre Road South at around 3:15 p.m. after 911 callers reported a house fire, according to police.
When officers and firefighters arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames.

A third resident, Ronald Montagna, 91, was rescued and taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and burns, police said.
Firefighters from the St. James Fire Department — assisted by multiple area departments — extinguished the blaze. Christine and Nicholas Lehmann were found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section are investigating. The cause of the fire appears non-criminal at this time, police said.
