- Smithtown residents are invited to enjoy Nathan Dean and The Damn Band at a free performance at the Hoyt Farm on Saturday, Aug. 26. Cosentino Companies sponsors the event. - St. James community voiced its opinions at a board meeting regarding constructing a worship house on the Monastery of Saint Dionysios, the Areopagite grounds. The project includes a building with 282 people capacity at 481 North Country Road. (TBR News Media)
- A budget hearing at the Smithtown Public Library-Nesconset Building is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m. The Board of Trustees leads the session which is open to the public. (Smithtown Matters)
- A fatal accident was reported on Spur Drive North in Suffolk. A Brentwood man died after his motorcycle collided with a Ford Explorer on Saturday night. The Ford driver was not injured. (Patch)

- How about watching a movie under the stars on Thursday, Aug. 24? The fun starts at 7 p.m. at the St. Joseph's Church parking lot featuring the movie "DC League Of Superpets." - Hoyt Family is keeping its legacy alive as the clan members come out this summer to deliver some memorial stones. This was a special visit and event for all who are connected with the farm sanctuary preserve that also serves the neighborhood with outstanding cultural events. (Smithtown Matters)
- St James/Smithtown Little League: "Registration for fall ball is winding down. Our fall season (games on Sunday mornings, beginning Sept. 10 and ending Oct. 29) is shaping up to be a great one." (St James/Smithtown Little League via Facebook)
