New Headmaster to Take Over at Knox School

Current headmaster George Allison will retire at end of school year.

The Knox School will have a new headmaster to start the 2012 school year.

Former headmaster of the Stony Brook School and current history professor at Elmira College Thad Gaebelein will take over on July 1, 2012, as current headmaster George Allison, who took over as headmaster in 2008, is set to retire at the end of the current school year.

During Allison’s time at Knox, the school had a 20 percent increase in enrollment, an increase in scholarships and grants for graduating students, and completed improvements of campus facilities .

Gaebelein will be Knox’s 11th headmaster in its 108 year history.
