Northern State Parkway Closures Coming To Town Of Smithtown: Info

A three-week pavement resurfacing project will be in the works.

TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Overnight lane closures are coming to the Northern State Parkway in the Town of Smithtown, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The westbound Northern State Parkway between State Route 454 (Veterans Memorial Highway) and Exit 44 (Sunken Meadow State Parkway) in the Town of Smithtown is set to close from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. for roughly three weeks, weather permitting, starting on Tuesday. A pavement resurfacing project will be done.

For parkway access, drivers can follow signed detours on the southbound Sunken Meadow Parkway or southbound Commack Road (Suffolk County Route 4).

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
