Obituary: Thomas Frank Murn, Longtime Smithtown Resident, Dies at 86
The grandfather of 18 passed away last Wednesday.

Thomas Frank Murn, a resident of Smithtown for about 50 years, died of natural causes on Wednesday, July 19. He was 86.
Thomas was born in Brooklyn. He served as a United States Marine during the Korean War where he was a ballistics instructor.
Upon completing military service, he went to work at Fairchild in Farmingdale as an engineer.

Thomas left Fairchild when he bought a Pepsi Cola distribution franchise in Astoria, Queens. It grew into a successful family business with several of his children and grandchildren working in related vending enterprises today.
He was also an active parishioner at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Smithtown.

Thomas was predeceased in life by his wife of 61 years, Phylis, who passed away three years ago.
He is survived by his children: Donna (Richie) Magnussen, John (Lori), Kevin, Terry (Jimmy) Sirignano, George, Tommy (Leslie), Joanne (Tom)LaCascia as well as his grandchildren: Kimberly (Matt) Pena, Thomas, Christina, Jessica (Will), Matthew, Michael, Johnny (Nicole), Marielle, Zachary, Isaiah, Kristin, Natalie, Tommy, Austin, Joseph, Christopher, Matthew, Victoria
In addition, Thomas is survived by 3 great-grandchildren; Brooke, Brianna and Isabella as well as his sister, Vera and a brother-in-law, Tillie (Sissy).
Funeral services were held this past weekend at Branch Funeral Home and St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church (both in Smithtown).
