Overnight Closures For Northern State Parkway In Town Of Smithtown

The overnight closures will start soon and last for a couple of weeks because of a pavement resurfacing project.

TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Overnight lane closures are coming to the Northern State Parkway in the Town of Smithtown, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.

The eastbound parkway between Exit 43 (Commack Road/Suffolk County Route 4) and State Route 454 (Veterans Memorial Highway) will be closed starting Monday overnight from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. for approximately two weeks, weather permitting, for a pavement resurfacing project.

Drivers will be detoured on to northbound Commack Road to eastbound State Route 25 (Jericho Turnpike) for Route 454 eastbound.

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
