Overnight Lane Closures Looming In Town Of Smithtown

A resurfacing project expected to take roughly a month is slated to start soon, according to the NYS Department of Transportation.

TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Overnight lane closures are soon coming to the Town of Smithtown.

A resurfacing project is due to begin on Tuesday night. Lane closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Middle Country Road between Terry Road and State Route 347 are subject to happen. The project is expected to take four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Motorists should follow the instructions of the flaggers for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew. Electronic variable message signs have been posted near the work zone and will provide updated information.

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
