Garage Fire Damages Home In Smithtown, 75 Firefighters Respond: Chief (patch.com) — A garage fire in Smithtown’s Hidden Ponds complex heavily damaged a home and drew about 75 volunteer firefighters, who kept the flames from spreading to neighboring condos. One resident was treated for minor burns as Smithtown fire crews, mutual aid departments, and investigators from Public Safety and Suffolk police handled the incident.

Sal Formica Takes Seat at Legislature (messengerpapers.com) — Smithtown residents now have Sal Formica representing them in Suffolk County’s 13th Legislative District, with his district office based on Landing Avenue in town. Formica, a longtime Commack resident and former NYPD officer and fire chief, says his top priorities include public safety, affordable housing, and protecting local infrastructure and water, and he’s already drawing strong interest from a standing-room-only Smithtown crowd.

Smithtown West boys basketball's Michael Cascione hits 1,000-point mark (newsday.com) — Smithtown hoops fans just watched a milestone as Smithtown West senior Michael Cascione scored his 1,000th career point while dropping 29 in a rivalry win over Smithtown East. A packed gym, extra bleachers, and a roaring student section underscored how big the Battle of the Bulls remains for the community.
