• Long Island mayor facing Grinch accusations for dinging church's Christmas fundraiser (nypost.com) — A zoning dispute in the Town of Smithtown has put St. Patrick’s Church’s long-running Christmas tree fundraiser under scrutiny, after the Village of the Branch cited the parish for selling in a historic-district parking lot. Village officials say they only want compliance, while the church’s lawyers accuse the mayor of unfair, possibly unconstitutional treatment of the fundraiser. 
• Nearly $200K Headed To Huntington, Commack Area Libraries For Long-Delayed Repairs (patch.com) — State funding is bringing nearly $200,000 in construction aid to three nearby public libraries that also serve parts of Smithtown, easing the burden on local taxpayers. Roof, HVAC, and accessibility upgrades in East Northport, Greenlawn, and Commack are meant to keep these heavily used community hubs safe, comfortable, and welcoming for years to come.
