Photo of the Day: Late Veteran Honored with Memorial Plaque
A late American Legion commander is now a permanent fixture at Smithtown Veterans Plaza, with a plaque in his honor revealed Friday.
During a , a plaque was revealed to honor a late, local veteran, Nicholas Albanese.
Albanese, a past commander of American Legion Post 833 in Smithtown who served the country as a U.S. Marine, passed away earlier this year.
The plaque can be seen all year round, attached to the face of a stone in front of the plaza's waterfall.
