- The decision to place armed guards in the Smithtown public schools divided opinions among the community. Some voiced concerns in the last BOE meeting on April 11, stating that an armed presence in the building makes some students uneasy. - Smithtown officials are celebrating Arbor Day 2023 by planting 200 spring trees in the neighborhood. The action brings awareness of the importance of trees in the community. - Dirty Taco & Tequila is taking over the Green Turtle location in Smithtown. Owners shared the great news on a Facebook post. The new eatery will open in May, serving signature tacos and tequila. (Greater Long Island)
