  2. Town of Smithtown Parks Department announced that the main Little League field at Gaynor Park is set to be finished this week in time for the spring season. In addition, the construction of the new synthetic field at the largest softball field at Moriches Park is expected to be completed in a month's time, according to the town. (Smithtown Patch)
  3. To preserve the remaining open space in the Saint James area, Head of the Harbor residents are set to sue Smithtown after they "greenlighted a proposal to split the 75-acre Gyrodyne property plot into eight parcels." (News 12 New Jersey)
  4. Gerald Matzen, 38, of Brookhaven and a woman, were arrested on drug charges on Thursday in Holbrook, Suffolk police said. Police said the couple were sitting inside a 2019 Kia on Dolphin Lane just before 10 p.m. when Matzen was caught with a stun gun. Police said Matzen was additionally charged possession of a controlled substance for having cocaine, as well as for having fentanyl and naloxone during a December incident. Matzen was also charged with a parole violation. (Patch)
  5. Criminal mischief (third-degree) was reported on School Street in St. James at 7:15 a.m. Two men went to Smithtown High School East, shook pole vault support beams and bent them beyond repair, police said. The duo ran away, police said. See more police reported incidents. (Patch)
