- Army Pfc. Kata rescued Quince, the dog she found as a puppy freezing on the side of the road overseas. In time the two bonded, the saved dog actually helped Kata get through days that would have otherwise left her feeling down and homesick. Paws of War is seeking donations to help Pfc. Kata rescue Quince, the dog she found. (Smithtown Patch)
- The Suffolk County Police Department is accepting donations at each of the SCPD precincts and headquarters through Friday, Jan. 14 for the survivors of a New York City apartment building fire that killed 17 people and hospitalized dozens. The items needed are nonperishables, such as clothing, sheets, baby items and more. (Newsbreak)
- Northwell has added a new medical office in East Setauket; one of the entrances to the Stony Brook Technology Center off of Belle Meade Road in East Setauket. (Northwell Health)
- Suffolk County Police posted a sketch of the man killed in a car crash in Medford on Jan. 4. Police said the victim has been identified as 29-year-old Saul Lozada of Patchogue. The police are thanking the public for their participation in the search to identify Lozada. (News 12 Long Island)
