• Man Crashes Corvette, Stolen From New Jersey, Into Guardrail On Long Island Expressway: Police (patch.com) — Smithtown’s 4th Squad detectives helped uncover that a Corvette crashed on the Long Island Expressway near Ronkonkoma had been reported stolen from a New Jersey dealership just hours earlier. Police say a 20-year-old Farmingville man fled the scene before being caught, treated for minor injuries, and charged with multiple offenses, including driving while impaired by drugs and possessing stolen property.

• High Winds Cause Power Outages Across Suffolk County: PSEG (patch.com) — Nearly 1,000 Smithtown homes and businesses lost power Friday as high winds and heavy rain knocked out electricity for almost 9,000 PSEG Long Island customers across Suffolk County. Crews are working to restore service, with many areas not expected back online until around midnight Saturday as the wind advisory and strong gusts continue.

• Winners of 32nd annual Gurwin Photo Contest announced (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Smithtown photographers made a strong showing in Gurwin’s 32nd Annual Photo Contest, earning honors in the Landscape, Still Life, and Resident/Staff Selection categories. Their winning images will be displayed at the Commack Public Library and then permanently at Gurwin’s Tiffen Gallery, brightening the space for residents and visitors.
