  1. Election 2021 Smithtown Voter Guide: Expect to see voters head out to the polls today, Nov. 2, for the 2021 general election. Races include Suffolk legislature, town supervisor, town council and more. Here are the 12 early voting locations in Suffolk County. (The Patch)
  2. Islip Town opens its first new animal shelter in more than 50 years! Cats, dogs, and even rabbits, birds, ferrets and guinea pigs will now have 17,727-square-foot building in Central Islip, 3,000 square feet larger than the town’s previous shelter in Bay Shore, which was built in 1964. (Newsday)
  3. Smith Haven Mall's Sears to become Stony Brook medical offices. The closed department store will become an outpatient treatment center, reflecting changing demand for mall retail space on Long Island. The center is targeted to open in late spring. (Smithtown Patch)
  4. St. James teenager reported missing. Yanira Argueta was last seen on Oct. 19 at work at O Sole Mio, located at 2194 Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook. Detectives are asking anyone with information on Argueta’s location to call 911 or the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452. (smithtownmatters.com)
