  1. The Town of Smithtown Youth Bureau announced the "Stuff-A-Truck" event is coming to Smithtown. The food drive will benefit the Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 1 at the Smithtown Town Hall, at 99 W. Main St., Smithtown. See the list of items needed. (Smithtown Patch)
  2. On Tuesday, the nonprofit organization, Habitat for Humanity, announced a merge with the Nassau and Suffolk chapters to form Habitat for Humanity of Long Island. Leaders of the affiliate to the national organization said the merge will expand services to provide more Long Islanders in need with affordable homes. (Long Island Press)
  3. Huntington town received the authorization from New York State to proceed on LIRR station improvements. Huntington LIRR station improvements includes renovating the north and south parking lots, replacing the elevator in the north parking garage, and structural concrete repairs for the west footbridge to the north parking garage. Tuesday night, Mitchell Leventhal, 64, was walking in the roadway of Route 112, north of Jefferson Avenue, when he was struck by a northbound 2004 Lexus ES 330 at 8:39 p.m. Leventhal was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Lexus was treated for minor injuries. (Smithtown Matters)
