Smithtown Notebook: Commack's Courtesy Inn Seeks Zone Change, Residents Oppose

Here's a rundown of the happenings this week at town hall.

All Seasons Motor Lodge in Commack sought a zone change at Wednesday’s planning board meeting to change from residential to wholesale. Expansion is halted until the zone change is permitted.

According to the lodge, expansion plans do not extend to the residential area.

Complaints were heard from residents Wednesday night concerning noise, garbage, and the renovations necessary to restore the deteriorating property.

The zone change application for All Seasons Motor Lodge was adjourned, however an on-site inspection of the property was approved. An extension for a performance bond was granted for Gyrodyne Co. of America in St. James. The hearing for a zone change application was closed prior to the meeting as Gyrodyne was sent to the town board for SEQRA. Nest Manor in Nesconset, which sought an extension of conditional final approval, was adjourned until the next planning board meeting on June 1. Olivia Estates on Birch Road in Kings Park requested an adjournment prior to the meeting for an extension of a performance bond, which the planning board approved.

Upcoming Town Meetings

The lone meeting this week is the town board meeting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Center, located at 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown.
