- Nurses at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown are on strike. The health workers voted with 98 percent of approval of a stop on their work schedule to fight for safe staffing and better wages. The staff had its contract expired on July 31. - The St. Joseph Family Festival kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 17! Festivities will go through Aug. 20 at 59 Church St. in Kings Park, featuring food, rides, games, and more! (Church of St. Joseph)
- Suffolk County Crime Stoppers need help identifying a duo who allegedly stole merchandise from the Target store in Commack. Police say the couple left the store with $530 worth of sports trading cards and other unpaid products. They fled in a dark SUV.
