Smithtown Police Blotter: Ford Van Stolen

ALSO: Theft reported at Sephora in Smith Haven Mall; and a woman was warned of fraudulent activity on her bank account, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY β€” Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from Sept. 16 through Sept. 22.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Sept. 20: Michael Bowen, 47, who is without a known address, while working with another person, stole a 2006 Ford Econoline van on Hoffman Lane in Islandia around 5:15 a.m. Sept. 1, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny: property value exceeds $3,000 and third-degree burglary: illegal entry with intent to commit a crime.

Incidents

  • Sept. 20: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 6:09 p.m. Someone stole property from Sephora in Smith Haven Mall, police said. The property was recovered outside the store, police said.
  • Sept. 19: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Ivy Hill Drive in Smithtown at 10:59 a.m. A woman received a call from her bank that there was suspected fraudulent activity on a joint account, police said. False charges started appearing on her account, police said.
