Smithtown Police Blotter: Jewelry, Cash Stolen In Home Break-In
ALSO: A man was arrested in connection with selling cocaine and fentanyl, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from Feb. 24 through March 2.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Feb. 28: Thomas Mastromatteo, 56, of Shirley, threw a rock through the window of a Hawkins Avenue, Lake Grove home around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23, police said. Mastromatteo entered the home and stole jewelry, cash, and other items, police said. On Feb. 28, he was found in possession of burglar tools, police said. He was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary: illegal entry with intent and possession of burglar tools.
- Feb. 27: Norman Reyes, 50, who is without a known address, was accused of selling cocaine and fentanyl on Commack Road in Commack on Feb. 20, police said. Reyes was found in possession of cocaine and fentanyl on Jericho Turnpike in Commack on Feb. 27, police said. He was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance: narcotic drug, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: narcotic drug w/ intent to sell, and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Incident
- Feb. 25: Grand larceny (third-degree) and auto-stripping (third-degree) were reported on Middle Country Road in St. James at 10 p.m. Between 10 p.m. Feb. 25 and 8 a.m. Feb. 26, someone stole rims and tires from two Nissan Altimas at Smithtown Nissan, police said.
