Here are the top four stories today in Smithtown:

  1. Police arrested a 29-year-old man from Kings Park for taking pictures of kids at the Gold Medal Gymnastics Center in Smithtown. The staff reported that all pictures were taken without consent. Robert Colyvas is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child and will have a court appearance this week. (Smithtown Patch)
  2. After a narrow election at the Smithtown School District, the three elected candidates are set to take part in the Board of Trustees. Residents also headed to the polls to vote on the school budget of $280,642,272, which has been approved. Access details of election results here. (Smithtown Patch)
  3. America's VetDogs will host an open house to introduce the unique service dogs in Smithtown. The community will have a chance to speak with veterans and hear great stories about how these pals have changed their lives. There will be also information available for those who want to volunteer at the center. The event is free and will be held on Thursday, May 25 from 4-7 p.m. at 371 East Jericho Turnpike, Smithtown.   4. Smithtown Public Library will screen "The Whale" in the next session of its Friday Movie Matinee on Friday, May 26. The movie starts at 2 p.m. Registrations can be made here.
