Smithtown Schools 'Go Gold' For Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Students and staff wore gold to support the Lace Up for Kids campaign, part of the nonprofit Solving Kids' Cancer.
SMITHTOWN, NY β Every September, the Smithtown Central School District community transforms into a vibrant celebration of community spirit and determination to fight childhood cancer, the school district announced.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and on Friday, students and staff wore gold to support the Lace Up for Kids campaign, part of the nonprofit Solving Kidsβ Cancer.
The Lace Up For Kids campaign helps spread awareness and fund lifesaving cancer research to make new, better treatments possible for children.

"Gold shoelaces, shirts and ribbons are more than just a fashion statement β theyβre a symbol of
hope and unity," the district wrote.
