SAINT JAMES, NY — The 2025 St. James St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15.

The event will feature marching bands, lively music, and festive cheer as the parade makes its way from Smithtown High School East on Woodlawn Avenue to the LIRR Station, according to the parade organizers.

This year’s Grand Marshal, Robert J. Murphy, will lead the celebration. Murphy is the Town of Smithtown Highway Superintendent.

"Every year, Robert proudly represents the Highway Department in the parade, not only as a testament to his dedication to our community, and his Irish roots, but also to honor the memory of someone who he looks up to daily; WWII hero and former Superintendent of Highways, James 'Red' Dowling — a St. James native, the father of our local Little League, and the man who helped shape our roadways and famous snow removal," Smithtown Supervisor Edward Wehrheim stated. "This year’s parade is sure to be one for the books!"

This year's parade is also "very bittersweet," Wehrheim said.

"The St. James Community just bid farewell to one of the Chamber's founding members; Bill Garthe, who passed away this week," Wehrheim said. "Bill left his mark on St James and the people he touched daily."

The parade is free to attend and fun for all ages, so people were encouraged to gather their family and friends for an afternoon of tradition and excitement.

After-parade parties are slated at Deepwells immediately following the parade (by invitation-only), as well as The Stone Goat at 2 p.m.
