This Day in History: Mills Pond House Concludes Expressionist Art Exhibit
The exhibition featured paintings, photographs and sculpture by nine artists in celebration of the Bicentennial.

On this day in 1989, Mills Pond House, run by the Smithtown Township Arts Council, wrapped up ''Figuratively Speaking,'' an exhibition featuring paintings, photographs and sculpture by nine artists, according to an archived New York Times report.
According to the report, the show featured Expressionist canvases that commemorated the Bicentennial celebration. Mills Pond House brought in the exhibition, which began April 22, with a reading of the new play by Peter Josyph, ''Rue Picasso,'' a drama about Picasso's stay in Paris during the Nazi occupation, as well as live painting by Josyph and a talk about his work.
