For those looking for a fun outing in Smithtown this weekend, there will be a German Festival at the St. Andrew's Lutheran Church on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Food, music, performances, raffles, and more will be at 30 Brooksite Drive in Smithtown.   3. Nearby News: Two officers ended up in the hospital after responding to a burglary call in Huntington Station. The duo went to the basement to investigate an alleged break-in when the stairs collapsed. They fell 10 feet. (News 12 Long Island)
  4. The Smithtown School District held ceremonies in remembrance and respect for the 9/11 victims and their families. The 22nd anniversary of the event was held on the Wall of Heroes, with Superintendent Mark Secaur reflecting on the "level of unity" the tragedy brought to the community and the American people.
