Wegmans In Long Island: Details For Planned 2024 Lake Grove Store
Counting down the days 'til Wegmans? Here's a look at what to expect.

LAKE GROVE, NY —The first Wegmans Food Markets location in Long Island is in the works, with next year still the target before people can browse the New York-based chain's selection of groceries and freshly-made food to go.
Wegmans is a supermarket franchise founded in Rochester in 1916, with 109 stores around the East Coast.
The company entered into an agreement to buy 8.5 acres of the existing DSW Plaza at the corner of Middle Country Road and Moriches Road in Lake Grove. Wegmans plans to open this 100,000-square-foot store in 2024, as Patch reported previously.

The company touts its "incredible customer service, restaurant foods, and one-stop shopping experience" for shoppers, as well as extensive benefits and competitive pay for employees.
In a recent village newsletter, Mayor Robert Scottaline said he is excited to work together with the company to make a positive impact in the community.

“Wegmans will be such a positive addition to our village, as it will help rejuvenate all of the retail in the area," said Scottaline. "The company has a reputation that will bring folks near and far into Lake Grove to do their shopping."
The company planned to begin construction of the new supermarket this spring after securing zoning approvals from the village, as Long Island Business News reported. The company is not yet hiring for this new location.
