Woman Uses Counterfeit Money At Lake Grove Store: Police

The woman used counterfeit bills to buy $560 worth of items at Dick's Sporting Goods, police say.

LAKE GROVE, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help finding the woman who, police said, used counterfeit money to purchase merchandise in November.

A woman was accused of using the fake money to purchase two baseball bats and a sporting bag, valued at $560, from Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 620 Smith Haven Mall, around 4:45 p.m. Nov. 20, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. A cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
