2nd Thief Nabbed In Hamptons Boat Trailer Heist: Police

The boat trailer was returned to its owner, police say.

EAST QUOGUE, NY — A second thief has been arrested after stealing a boat trailer from East Quogue, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on March 9, Southampton Town police patrol units responded to a report of a boat trailer stolen from a property in East Quogue; the trailer was taken between March 8 and March 9 and had a value of more than $8,000, police said.

The Southampton Town Police Department's detective division was notified and began an extensive investigation, police said. The trailer was located a few days later on a vacant lot in Shirley. Two people were identified and subsequently arrested and charged, police said.

On March 18, Christian Klemm, 29, of Medford, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and third-degree grand larceny, a felony, police said. He was arrested and held for arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

On April 1, Anthony Colonna, 29, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and fifth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court.
