4 Most Read Stories of Summer 2013

Labor Day has arrived, and with another summer down, let's take a look back at the five most read stories on Southampton Patch this summer season. 

1. Cops: Jennifer Lopez's Stalker Found Squatting in Her Pool House

A man whom police said is stalking actress-singer Jennifer Lopez was arrested at her Water Mill house in early August. John M. Dubis, a 49-year-old who lives on Rhode Island, was reportedly living in Lopez's pool house for a week. Lopez, the mother to twins with singer Marc Anthony, was not at the house when workers discovered Dubis on Aug. 8. According to police, she already had an Order of Protection against him.

2. Bieber Brawls in Southampton

The pop superstar who has been tabloid fodder recently for his antics reported ripped off his shirt and brawled with a fan while partying at South Pointe nightclub on Aug. 4. 

3. Woman Dies in County Road 39 Accident

A woman who was behind the wheel of a Chevy SUV involved in an accident with a Hampton Jitney in Southampton on County Road 39 was pronounced dead at the scene on July 25. Carissa Castillo, a 29-year-old Shirley resident and mother of two, was reportedly driving aggressively and was using her cellphone, though she wasn't texting or talking on the phone, police later said. 

4. Jitney, Garbage Truck Collide in Southampton

Two were sent to the hospital after a Hampton Jitney and a garbage truck collided on County Road 39A on July 29 in an accident that closed down a stretch of the busy road for nearly five hours, the second accident in a week involving a Jitney on the same stretch of road. Police said the accident was reported at 4:37 a.m.; it took hours to wrap up the investigation at the scene and clear the roadway so traffic could resume passing through.
