Cops: Secretary Accused Of Forging Boss' Checks

Also, a woman out for a stroll has her home broken into, loose coins stolen.

Southampton Town police released the following incident reports for the week of Nov. 18.

Bridgehampton

  • Someone broke into a home on the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike while the owner was out for a walk on Nov. 12. According to police they received a 911 call at around 4:15 p.m. from a resident who said that she had gone for a walk and when she returned she noticed someone had been inside the home. When she went inside she discovered that about $500 in dimes and quarters was stolen. The victim said she didn't think she closed the door all the way when she left to take her walk. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
Southampton
  • A Southampton man called police on his secretary, claiming that the secretary had been altering business checks and cashing them at the complainant’s bank, Bridgehampton National Bank. According to police, the man reported the forgeries, which totaled $2,290, on Nov. 14 at around 4 p.m. The victim handed over the identifying information about his secretary and the detective division was notified. The investigation is ongoing.
