Driver Caught Speeding At 100+ MPH In Residential LI Neighborhood: PD

NORTHAMPTON, NY — A woman was arrested after speeding more than 100 miles per hour in Northampton Monday night, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 6:52 p.m. when the Riverhead woman, 19, was seen speeding at over 100 miles per hour on County Road 51 in the area of Speonk-Riverhead Road.

traffic stop, authorities said. She attempted to evade police by passing other motorists and driving
through a residential community, eventually crashing and striking a utility pole on Wildwood Trail in Northampton, officials said.
She was arrested and taken to Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing and charged with reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and multiple violations of the New York State vehicle and traffic law, police said.

She was released on a desk appearance ticket and instructed to return to the Southampton Town Justice Court for arraignment at a later date, police said.
