Firefighters Save Hamptons Home After Blaze Breaks Out
No injuries were reported, officials say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Firefighters saved a home after a blaze broke out in Southampton Friday.
According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, at about 12:35 p.m., the Southampton Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Wickapogue Road, where a fire had reportedly broken out.
2nd Assistant Chief Keith Lockard was first to arrive at the scene, in two minutes, and confirmed the fire. Fire department crews had the fire under control within 20 minutes and continued with salvage and overhaul, Brenner said.

No injuries were reported, Brenner said.
"The firemen did a great job," Brenner said, adding that although there was damage, the home "was not a total loss."

Chief of Department Polis Walker was in charge of the scene, and 1st Assistant Chief Ricky Fowler and 2nd Assistant Chief Kenneth Lockard oversaw the fire operations. The Southampton Fire Department had three engines, two tower ladders, one rescue truck, two fire police trucks and several support vehicles at the scene, Brenner said.

There were about 85 fire and EMS personnel at the scene.
Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance was at the scene to provide firefighter support under the direction of Chief Christopher Epley and 1st Assistant Chief Matthew Zukosky. Additional agencies were at the scene, including the North Sea Fire Department and Hampton Bays Fire Department, with rapid intervention teams from the Sag Harbor Fire Department and East Hampton Fire Department. The Southampton Village Police Department, Southampton Volunteer Ambulance, Suffolk County Deputy Fire Coordinators, as well as the Bridgehampton Fire Department, who stood by at Southampton's fire department to cover any additional alarms, were also present, Brenner said.
The cause of the fire did not appear to be suspicious, and the scene was turned over to the Southampton Village fire marshal for investigation at about 2:30 p.m., Brenner said.
