'He Defines What It Is To Be A Hero': Southampton Hero Colby Gill

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

Mr. Gill, being a young man of 22 years of age, has accomplished many things for a short life. He is a volunteer firefighter for the Southampton Fire Department and also received the "Rookie of the Year" award for 20221 to 2022. He is also a outstanding EMT for Southampton Volunteer Ambulance, where he holds an officer title. To be in any of these positions takes time away from family and friends and shows great character and love for his community. Mr. Gill also works full-time in the family-owned business "The Carpetman" and holds the title of vice-president of operations. It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Gill for the honor of Local Hero.

Mr. Gill defines what it is to be a hero. He is admired for his courage, and outstanding achievements and noble qualities
