Man Arrested After Being Found With Forged License Plates, Registration In Southampton: Police

His driver's license was also revoked, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested Tuesday after driving with forged license plates and a forged registration, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, at about 12:15 p.m., an officer stopped a driver traveling westbound on County Road 39 for several traffic violations.

Upon further investigation the driver, Edgar Jesus Herrera Alvarado, 51, was found to be operating the vehicle with forged license plates and produced a forged registration document to police, authorities said.

He was also found to have a revoked driver's license status, police said.

Subsequently, Jesus Herrera Alvarado was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanors, and several traffic infractions, police said.

Jesus Herrera Alvarado was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters and issued a desk appearance ticket for a future court date, police said.
