Multi-Car Crash Snarls Evening Commute On County Road 39 In Hamptons: FD

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A multi-car crash in Southampton left traffic snarled on County Road 39 late Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

According to Chris Brenner, public information officer with the Southampton Fire Department, the multiple-vehicle crash took place at 4:01 p.m. at County Road 39 and Shrubland Road.

It was not immediately clear how many people were injured but those injuries appeared non-life threatening, Brenner said.

The crash caused traffic woes for Tuesday commuters, with traffic "down to one lane heading westbound," he said. "Traffic is very bad heading west."

As of 4:55 p.m., the crash was cleared but traffic was still gridlocked, Brenner said.
