Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrations Across the South Fork
The holiday is a time for remembrance and a day of service, those who've organized the events believe.

As the nation pauses to remember the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., who spent his live striving to promote a message of peace and love, the South Fork has a number of services planned to commemorate the birthday of a man who changed the world.
Dr. King, a civil rights leader and minister, would have been 87 years old this week; he died after being brutally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968, when he was just 39.
Today, the world, and the East End, remembers his rich legacy and belief that all men and women are, indeed, created equal.
