Opinion: Vote Bridget Fleming: It Her Time For Us

Today is primary day for the Democratic Party in New York State. I am writing my opinion based on my belief I had to speak up about the urgency of getting this year’s upcoming elections right.

On the east end of Long Island and it’s 1st Congressional District that means getting Bridget Fleming on the ballot in November by voting for her in the primary today.

I have covered Ms. Fleming since she arrived on the Southampton Political scene. She was and to this day still is genuine. I remember my first impression way back was, “she is not only a natural political force with a conscience for what’s both best and right but one that works hard to help others.” I wrote that when she ran and won a spot on the Southampton Town Board.

I was covering the election night for a local weekly and was present when she finally won her board seat. I knew that night it was the beginning of a trajectory that would lead her to being a Congresswoman.

Here is why. The women liked and trusted her and I believe women know women. Almost every women who I spoke with talked about what “a genuine good person” she was as well as her brilliant grasp of all things political.

There are no bad candidates running in the Democratic 1st Congressional Distrust but only one best candidate. I believe that is Bridget Fleming. She’s a winner and that will be needed in November.
