Should Non-Suffolk County Residents Pay Toll To Fight Summer Traffic
Perhaps a $20 a day fee to cross Shinnecock Canal East on Route 27 to cut back on pollution on the East End.

If the governor of New York State truly wants to fight pollution and traffic congestion, perhaps next there should be a toll for non-Suffolk County residents crossing the Shinnecock Canal. Especially in the summer.
The revenue can be used to keep beaches clean, and perhaps staffing of lifeguards and other employees in the various parks.
traffic on the east end on weekends during the summer season can be as terrible as in New York City during the summer. Why not use congestion pricing to benefit East End communities that do not use the subway and other MTA costly money, losing facilities.

With modern technology, they will be no need to collect tolls as they can be done electronically as they are on all the bridges entering New York City. If it’s OK to tax Suffolk County residents who occasionally enter New York City on busy days? Why not tax non-Suffolk County residents who enter the East End on extremely busy and congested summer days, causing traffic, jams and parking problems.
Of course, this will never happen because the governor is not focused on stopping pollution and congestion, but perhaps funding the expenditures of the MTA.
